Creating a Linear Dimension
You can use the DimLinear command to create vertical, horizontal, or rotated dimensions.
How to Create a Linear Dimension:
- Click on Dimension > Linear
on the Ribbon.
or
- Enter DIMLINEAR in the command window.
- Specify the position of the first extension line in the graphics area.
- Specify the position of the second extension line in the graphics area.
- Specify the position of the dimension line in the graphics area.

In the Command window, enter one of the following options:
Horizontal: Creates a horizontal dimension. The dimension line is parallel to the X axis.
The horizontal distance between the two specified points is measured.
Vertical: Creates a vertical dimension. The dimension line is parallel to the Y axis.
The vertical distance between the two specified points is measured.
Rotated: Creates a rotated dimension. The dimension line has the specified angle.
The distance between the two specified points is measured along the defined angle (parallel to the dimension line).
