Creating a Cross Section of a 3D Solid
You can use the Section command to create a cross section of a 3D solid.
How to create a Cross Section of a 3D Solid
- Click on 3D Solid > Cross Section
on the Ribbon.
or
- Enter SECTION in the command window.
- Select a 3D Solid in the graphics area.
- Specify three points for the cross-sectional plane in the graphics area

Enter one of the following options in the Command window:
View: Aligns the cutting plane with the current view and a point on the plane.
Entity: Aligns the cutting plane to a circle, ellipse, or 2D polyline.
ZAxis: Defines the cutting plane based on a point on the plane and a point on the Z-axis (normal).
XY: Aligns the cutting plane with the XY plane of the current UCS and a point on the plane.
YZ: Aligns the cutting plane to the YZ plane of the current UCS and a point on the plane.
ZX: Aligns the cutting plane to the ZX plane of the current UCS and a point on the plane - Press Enter to insert the cross-section in the cutting plane.
or
Enter Yes in the command window to insert the cross-section in the XY plane.
